# Twilio and Vonage, from the articles

Study notes. Not vendor documentation and not legal advice.

- Wikipedia calls Twilio an American cloud communications company based in San Francisco that provides programmable tools for phone calls, text messages, and other functions using web service APIs.
- The same article says Twilio was founded in 2008, launched Twilio Voice on 20 November 2008, and released its text messaging API in February 2010.
- It also says Twilio acquired Authy and SendGrid, and was subject to data breaches in 2022 and 2024.
- Wikipedia calls Vonage an American cloud communications provider operating as a subsidiary of Ericsson, founded in 1998 as Min-X and renamed in 2001.
- The Vonage article says the offering includes unified communications, contact center applications, and communications APIs, and that Ericsson completed the acquisition in July 2022.

Two columns. Twilio: San Francisco, web service APIs, Voice in 2008, messaging API in February 2010. Vonage: Ericsson subsidiary, communications APIs named on the article. Current seat price: confirm.
