T3-R05. PSTN choices and agent voice paths for Webex Contact Center: Contact Center PSTN, Cloud Connected PSTN, Local Gateway, Cisco Calling Plan, Webex Calling endpoints, and WebRTC. Article 2dputx. Retrieved 2026-10-14.
01 · TL;DR
PSTN is one choice. The agent path is another.
- Cloud PSTN options in the article: Webex Contact Center PSTN, Cloud Connected PSTN, and Cisco Calling Plan for trials and supported service-number regions. [cite:1]
- On-premises PSTN is Local Gateway, over the internet or Webex Edge Connect. [cite:1]
- Agent methods include PSTN, Webex Calling devices, WebRTC, premise PBX, and Microsoft Teams through Local Gateway. [cite:1]
- Login destinations are Dial Number, Extension, or Desktop. [cite:1]

Article 2dputx says a Webex Contact Center tenant must be connected to the PSTN, and agents need voice connectivity that matches their endpoints. The article recommends integrating telephony through the Webex cloud and Control Hub. If you already have a Webex Calling subscription, that subscription is used to connect voice services into Webex Contact Center as well. re-check [cite:1]
Common Edge is the shared edge. Calls are routed into Webex Contact Center using Webex Calling PSTN services, and the article says this allows routing without a Webex Calling subscription. All new Webex Contact Center subscriptions include Webex Calling PSTN services automatically. If the tenant was provisioned before October 2024, a partner may need to add Webex Calling PSTN service to use Common Edge. [cite:1]
Webex Contact Center PSTN is for the contiguous United States and Canada. It does not support international dialing. Calls can be delivered to and from North American Numbering Plan destinations in the contiguous lower 48 states or Canada only. An administrator creates a location and selects Webex Contact Center PSTN as the PSTN service. [cite:1]
Cisco Calling Plan, in this article, is currently available for Webex Contact Center trials and in the regions where Cisco supports service and/or inbound toll-free numbers. Cloud Connected PSTN and Local Gateway are the other named production options, with the geographies the article states. [cite:1]
| Option | Where the article says it works | Number format the article states | Cite |
|---|---|---|---|
| Webex Contact Center PSTN | Contiguous United States and Canada. No international dialing. | Ordered as regular or toll-free. Location PSTN service is Webex Contact Center PSTN. | [cite:1] |
| Cloud Connected PSTN | Over 65 countries through certified providers. | DID and toll-free saved as +E.164. | [cite:1] re-check |
| Local Gateway | Over 140 markets. OTT or Webex Edge Connect. | Registration or certificate-based numbers saved as +E.164. | [cite:1] re-check |
| Cisco Calling Plan | Trials, and regions with service and/or inbound toll-free numbers. | Ordering and activation in Control Hub. | [cite:1] |
Agent connection methods in the article: Webex PSTN DID or cellular; Webex Calling MPP devices or Webex App, which need a Webex Calling subscription; WebRTC desktops, which deliver media to the browser and do not require a local gateway, and which are unavailable for customers hosted in the Japan data center; premise PBX agents such as Unified CM or premise PSTN; Microsoft Teams clients through Local Gateway Direct SIP Routing. The tenant needs at least one of these delivery methods. [cite:1]
At login the agent chooses Dial Number, Extension, or Desktop. A dial number is typically +E.164 and that format is not mandatory, and the number must be reachable through Webex PSTN and routing. An extension is matched to a registered Webex Calling endpoint, and a match unlocks preferred-device selection. Desktop is WebRTC, and the article repeats that it is not available for the Japan data center. [cite:1]
When Webex Calling and Webex Contact Center are deployed together, the article says to fully configure Calling, including Control Hub, licensing, PSTN, and agent endpoints such as MPP phones and Webex App, before you configure the Contact Center tenant. [cite:1]
Article gsmsaeb says that after users are synchronized you add dial numbers under Tenant Settings > Voice. For Webex Calling, the location main number does not appear in the available-number list. A toll-free entry-point mapping needs the entitlement; without Cisco Bundle 2 inbound toll-free access, and when telephony type is Cisco PSTN, use a toll number. The same article says voice settings include short call threshold, sudden disconnect threshold, default ANI, call recording, and WebRTC. Numeric threshold values were not in the extract used here. TODO-verify those numbers. Header June 10, 2026. [cite:2]

Cross-platform bridges
Unified CM is a premise agent PBX in 2dputx, not the multi-tenant call controller. Dedicated Instance agent phones are a different article (nmhk7ve) and are not redesigned here. [cite:1]
Microsoft Teams agents are reached through Local Gateway Direct SIP Routing. That is not a statement that Teams Phone equals Webex Calling. [cite:1]
Amazon Connect and Genesys have no PSTN mapping on 2dputx.
Future-integration hooks
- Canon planning: T2-R02 keeps the Local Gateway port and IOS-XE detail. This room only places Local Gateway among the voice options.
- CCP “over 65 countries” and Local Gateway “over 140 markets” are quoted from 2dputx, header June 25, 2026. Do not replace them with the older at-a-glance PDF. [cite:1]
- Short-call and sudden-disconnect numeric thresholds are TODO-verify until gsmsaeb is read for the digits. [cite:2]
- Country lists for Cisco Calling Plan stay on the Calling Global Availability article the voice article names. They are not copied here. TODO-verify a specific country.

| WebRTC login missing in Japan | The article says Desktop WebRTC is unavailable for the Japan data center. | Tenant data center. | Use another agent method. | [cite:1] |

| 911 tested only by placing a contact-center call | 2dputx does not set up RedSky. | Whether the Calling emergency path exists for that endpoint. | Follow the emergency articles for the endpoint type. | [cite:3] |

Paths the articles name
- Finish the tenant with the Get Started article before this article’s steps. [cite:1]
- If Calling and Contact Center deploy together, finish Calling, licensing, PSTN, and endpoints first. [cite:1]
- Create a location and select the PSTN service that matches the geography you can defend from the article. [cite:1]
- Give the tenant at least one agent delivery method. [cite:1]
- Desktop profile controls which login destinations an agent sees. The article says administrators manage that behavior with desktop profiles. [cite:1]
- Map numbers at Tenant Settings > Voice. Do not expect the Webex Calling location main number in the list. [cite:2]
