Countries and residency

Flags mark regions named in the Canon room. This page does not invent carriers, dial plans, or a PSTN country matrix.

Europe

Messaging GEO named in the room: Europe, Frankfurt and Amsterdam, mapped to Continental Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. An EU city time zone puts Meetings data in Frankfurt.

North America and rest of world

The same room names a second Messaging GEO: North America and the rest of the world, in United States data centers. A 1:1 chat that includes a North America or rest-of-world user is stored in that GEO.

Country at provisioning

The country selected at provisioning permanently sets the GEO for users and encryption keys. The room says Webex does not currently support migrating between GEOs. Read the result at Account, Info, Data Locations.

Calling and Meetings

Calling follows the principal place of business at order time. Meetings follow the site time zone. Other time zones use the data center closest to the selected city.

Contact Center

Contact Center, Settings, Service Details, Country of Operation. The setup wizard creates the tenant in the closest data center from Data Locality. CountryCodeGEOMapping.xlsx maps the country in cell B3 to the region in cell B4. Article named in the room: wej14b.

Which country to pick

If users are mostly in one country, select that country even when it differs from the business address. If they are spread out, select the country with the highest user count. Everyone in the org is stored in that GEO.

Source: T1-R07 Data Residency & Security Basics. The room also names eligible legacy moves dated 29 Aug 2025 (EU common application data, Saudi Arabia Meetings sites, UAE common application data). That header is older than twelve months, so re-check it. Meetings article WBX28754 is a data-center city list, not the Messaging GEO list: free accounts may be stored outside the account holder’s region; billing is named as Texas and North Carolina; analytics as California and Texas. Cities may change.
