Agents and consumers
A contact center, in the Wikipedia article that opened, extends a call centre with channels beyond voice. Zoom's developer page is more specific for this product: voice, video, or chat, and two roles. Write the role before you write the channel. A chat from a consumer is not an agent-to-agent meeting just because both can use Zoom.
Learn it in 5 minutes
- The Contact Center developer page separates agents from consumers.
- Agents are internal users: support, sales, or specialists.

The product navigation also lists AI Expert Assist, Workforce Management, Quality Management, and CX Insights next to Contact Center. Those are names in the menu. This room does not assign a metric to them.
Getting Started with Zoom Contact Center is named on the developer page as the setup guide. This session did not open a separate getting-started article, so menu steps stay on a confirm row.
Worked example
Label four boxes: consumer, voice or video or chat, Contact Center, agent. Draw the arrow from the consumer toward the agent. Do not draw a second arrow called transferred until you have a flow page that defines transfer.
Quiz
1. On the developer page, a consumer is an external user.

Ecosystem
Sister pieces sit on the ecosystem page: the glossary, the mind map, the integration map, and the bridges.
- Agent — An internal Zoom Contact Center user, as the developer page defines the word.
- Consumer — An external person who contacts the business through voice, video, or chat.
Config. Write the channel and the role. Leave queue logic for the routing track.
Troubleshooting. If the wrong person is on the call, check whether you embedded an agent UI in a consumer page. The next room separates those embeds.
Bridge. Wikipedia's contact-center sentence is the general word. Zoom's page is the product word. Keep both citations.
Mind map, sister technologies, and future hooks live on the ecosystem page.
