DI Admin & Operations
Dedicated Instance operations is a RACI, not a shared login. Cisco builds and restores the cloud UC applications. The customer or partner owns the dial plan, the users, premise DNS, and the service restart — after they tell Cisco.
01 · Executive summary
Five lines, then why it matters
- R means the person doing the work. A signs off. C is two-way. I is one-way. [cite:1]
- Cisco is accountable and responsible for the core application build, core monitoring, and operational readiness testing before handover. [cite:1]
- A widespread issue is 100 percent of a UC cluster, or more than one cluster. Cisco resolves non-configuration issues there and restores clusters. A smaller issue is the customer or partner’s configuration to fix. [cite:1]
- Service requests live at Calling → Dedicated Instance → Service Request. Day-0 and Day-1 types include DNS, firewall, firmware upload, cloud connectivity, audit log, UC application management, DI–MT inter-op trunks, UC application lifecycle, and IaaS. [cite:3]
- Open a TAC case on Collaboration and Conferencing, sub-technology UCM Cloud / Dedicated Instance. Do not choose the Webex option. Port 21 FTP is not allowed. [cite:4]

03 · Core concepts
The split the matrix actually prints
Responsible does the task. Accountable signs off. Consulted is two-way. Informed is one-way. The matrix covers partner onboarding, customer onboarding, and operations. [cite:1]
In the absence of an active partner, the customer assumes the responsibilities designated for the partner. [cite:1]
The RACI article, header October 09, 2026, says customers may stay on n-1 of the current UC applications deployed in Dedicated Instance, and it names v15SU4a, unless a security issue forces a COP or an upgrade. The partner operations guide prints a table with v14.0 as n-1 and v15.0-SU4a as n, then says that n-1 has entered end of support and those customers must upgrade. Quote both. Do not collapse them. The partner-operations markdown retrieved 2026-10-14 did not print a header date. re-check that table before you teach which release is n. [cite:1] [cite:2]
Default base configurations in the UC applications are Cisco A+R. Customer or partner should not modify them. Non-base configuration, for example dial plan, integrations, and PSTN, is customer or partner A+R. [cite:1]

| Activity | Who is A+R | What the remark adds | Cite |
|---|---|---|---|
| Widespread issue, 100% of a cluster or across clusters | Cisco, for non-UC-application configuration issues | Subscribe to Alerts Center rule Calling - Maintenance and Outage. Cisco restores the clusters. | [cite:1] |
| Non-widespread issue | Customer and partner | Follow redundancy in the solution design guidance. Cisco still restores clusters. | [cite:1] |
| Cloud Connected PSTN | Partner and Cisco both A+R | Customer or partner owns number procurement and configuration. Cisco owns connectivity to the CCP provider. | [cite:1] |
| Internal and public DI DNS | Cisco | Premise DNS is customer or partner. | [cite:1] |
| UC application certificates | Cisco | Custom SAN entries are not supported. UCM Cloud conversions keep customer-managed certificates unless the domain and certificate authority transfer to Cisco. | [cite:1] |
| Phone firmware and locales | Customer and partner | Service request uploads firmware to Cisco SFTP. Cisco returns SFTP details. The customer or partner installs the COP and restarts services. | [cite:1] |
| Backup and restore | Cisco | No customer access to backups. No on-demand restore. A restore is not a change backout. | [cite:1] |
| Service restart | Customer and partner | Notify Cisco first. TAC does not have access to restart or reboot services. | [cite:1] |

- Service request
- The Control Hub object at Calling → Dedicated Instance → Service Request for Day-0 and Day-1 assistance. [cite:3]
- Widespread issue
- 100 percent of a UC cluster, or an issue across multiple clusters. Cisco troubleshoots non-configuration issues in that band. [cite:1]
- Alerts Center rule
- Calling - Maintenance and Outage. The customer or partner configures email, Webex App, or webhooks. [cite:1]
- DRS
- Disaster Recovery System on Unified CM, IM and Presence, or Unity Connection. Cisco runs it. Partners do not get access. [cite:2]
- Custom SAN
- Not supported on Dedicated Instance certificates. [cite:1]
- n and n-1
- The partner operations guide says customers can run the current Collaboration Systems release or the previous one, then states the printed n-1 has entered end of support. Read the live table. [cite:2] re-check
- Tier 1
- Initial technical support included in the Webex Calling subscription at no additional cost for the subscription term. Basic support is 24/7 in English. [cite:4]
- UC application lifecycle request
- The service-request type for maintenance schedule questions covering certificate management, software upgrades, or PSIRT fixes. [cite:3]
- DI–MT inter-op request
- Changes the location in the selected region on multi-tenant for the default trunks Cisco created. [cite:3]

| Sister | What it is | Why it matters here | Config touchpoint | Typical failure | Cite |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Control Hub Alerts | The notification channel for maintenance and outage. | Widespread-issue response assumes the Calling - Maintenance and Outage rule is subscribed. | Email, Webex App, or webhooks. | A maintenance window arrives with no enrolled contact. | [cite:1] [cite:2] |
| LDAP | Customer directory for end users. | The operations matrix assigns customer LDAP to the customer, with the partner consulted. | On the dedicated Unified CM, not as a Cisco-run directory. | Waiting for Cisco to populate users. | [cite:1] |
| SSO on UC apps | Single sign-on inside the UC applications. | After Cisco renews a certificate, the partner disables SSO, reimports IdP metadata, and re-enables SSO. | UC application SSO, then a validation. | Sign-in fails the morning after a certificate window. | [cite:2] |
| Cloud Connected PSTN | Provider PSTN peered to Webex Calling. | Number procurement is not Cisco’s column. Connectivity to the provider is. | CCP configuration plus the Cisco-owned provider link. | Opening a TAC case for a number the partner never ordered. | [cite:1] |

| Cisco-run DRS | On-premises, the publisher admin can run DRS. Here partners have no access, and a restore is not a change backout. | A Teams Phone tenant admin is not this RACI. No parity matrix. | [cite:1] [cite:2] |
| Customer LDAP | The same product idea as on-premises LDAP, and it remains the customer’s column. | Directory sync inside multi-tenant Control Hub is a different task from this LDAP row. | [cite:1] |
| UCM Cloud conversion | Certificates stay customer-managed until the domain and CA move to Cisco. | Do not describe that conversion as a Microsoft or Amazon tenant move. The article does not. | [cite:1] |
Future-integration hooks
- Canon plan: T5-R05 owns the DI and multi-tenant dial plan. This room only records that a DI–MT service request changes the multi-tenant location on the default trunks. [cite:3]
- Canon plan: T5-R06 owns the migration gates. Day-2 documents named there point back at this RACI, the partner operations guide, and the service-request list.
- The partner operations version table and the October 09, 2026 RACI sentence about v15SU4a are not the same snapshot. re-check both before a maintenance window. [cite:1] [cite:2]

| CCP calls fail and TAC is asked to order numbers | Number procurement is the customer or partner column. | Which side owns the provider link versus the numbers. | Partner or customer orders and configures numbers. Cisco owns provider connectivity. | [cite:1] |
| Peering case opened before local checks | Tier 1 says the first debug is customer or partner IT. | Partner Connect, Edge Connect, or Virtual Connect, and the Dot1q tag on Partner Connect. | Finish local debugging, then TAC. | [cite:4] |
| Maintenance notice missed | The partner is not enrolled for Maintenance and outages alerts, or the contact record is stale. | Alerts enrollment and current contact information. | Enroll and correct the contact. Cisco recommends a Webex App account for notifications. | [cite:2] |

09 · Self-question ladder
Twelve rungs
L0What does Dedicated Instance operations decide first?
Which RACI column owns the activity: customer, partner, or Cisco. [cite:1]
L1What breaks if the partner column is empty?
Nothing in the matrix moves to Cisco. The customer assumes the partner responsibilities. [cite:1]
L1Why advertise a default route?
The Dedicated Instance side does not accept more specific routes than 0.0.0.0/0 from the customer. [cite:1]
L2Where is a Day-1 request opened?
Calling → Dedicated Instance → Service Request. [cite:3]
L2Who may restart a service?
The customer or partner, after they inform Cisco. TAC cannot. [cite:1]
L3How do you prove a fault is Cisco’s?
Show it is a non-configuration issue on 100 percent of a UC cluster, or across clusters. Smaller configuration faults stay with the customer or partner, while cluster restore stays with Cisco in both rows. [cite:1]
L3What evidence shows a maintenance window was announced?
Written notice at least 10 calendar days ahead for work that disrupts calling, sent to partners enrolled for Maintenance and outages. [cite:2]
L4How is certificate ownership different from multi-tenant Calling?
On Dedicated Instance, Cisco manages UC application certificates and rejects custom SANs. A UCM Cloud conversion keeps customer-managed certificates until the domain and CA transfer. This room does not restate multi-tenant trunk certificates. [cite:1]
L4Who owns CCP numbers versus the CCP link?
Customer or partner owns procurement and configuration. Cisco owns connectivity to the Cloud Connected PSTN provider. [cite:1]
L5Why will you not use DRS as the rollback for a dial-plan change?
The RACI says Cisco does not do on-demand restores and does not allow a restore as a change backout. Partners also have no DRS access. [cite:1] [cite:2]
L5Which n-1 sentence do you teach?
Both, until you re-read them. October 09, 2026 RACI allows n-1 of the deployed applications and names v15SU4a, with a security exception. The partner operations table prints v14.0 as n-1 and v15.0-SU4a as n, then says that n-1 is end of support. [cite:1] [cite:2]
L3What is the TAC technology pair?
Collaboration and Conferencing, then UCM Cloud / Dedicated Instance (DI). High severity is a 60-minute response target. Call frontline for P1 and P2. [cite:4]

Twelve questions
With no active partner, who takes the partner column?
Answer
The customer. [cite:1]
Which route must the customer advertise toward Dedicated Instance?
Answer
0.0.0.0/0. More specific routes are not accepted. [cite:1]
Who performs operational readiness testing of the core applications before handover?
Answer
Cisco is A+R. Customer and partner are informed. [cite:1]
Every node in one cluster is unreachable and the fault is not a UC application configuration. Who resolves it?
Answer
Cisco. That scope is the widespread row. [cite:1]
Can TAC restart a Dedicated Instance service?
Answer
No. The customer or partner notifies Cisco, then restarts. [cite:1]
Where do you open the request?
Answer
Calling → Dedicated Instance → Service Request. [cite:3]
A partner adds a custom SAN to the Dedicated Instance certificate. What does the RACI say?
Answer
Cisco does not support custom SAN entries on those certificates. [cite:1]
How much written notice precedes planned maintenance that disrupts calling?
Answer
At least 10 calendar days. [cite:2]
Which TAC product option do you avoid?
Answer
The Webex option. Use Collaboration and Conferencing, sub-technology UCM Cloud / Dedicated Instance (DI). [cite:4]
After a certificate renewal, UC SSO fails. What does the partner operations guide tell the partner to do?
Answer
Disable SSO, reimport the IdP metadata, re-enable SSO, and validate. [cite:2]
Name the AMER weekday maintenance window and say whether you can move it.
Answer
9 p.m. ET through 6 a.m. ET, Monday through Friday. The regional window cannot be changed. A conflicting business date can still be a lifecycle reschedule onto Cisco’s available dates, except urgent vulnerability or near-expiry certificate work. [cite:2]
Someone schedules a DRS restore to undo a route-pattern edit. What is wrong?

13 · Interview
Oral answers
30 seconds. Dedicated Instance splits work with a RACI. Cisco builds and monitors the core applications and restores clusters. The customer or partner owns dial plan, users, premise DNS, and acceptance testing. No partner means the customer takes that column.
2 minutes. Connectivity advertises 0.0.0.0/0. More specific routes are refused. Base configuration stays as Cisco deployed it. Widespread means the whole cluster or several clusters, and Cisco takes non-configuration faults there. A single mis-set route pattern is still yours. You can restart a service only after the Control Hub request notifies Cisco. TAC cannot restart it. DRS is Cisco’s backup. It is not your backout, and you do not get the backups.
30 seconds, certificates. Cisco manages Dedicated Instance UC certificates and will not add a custom SAN. After renewal, SSO has to be disabled, the IdP metadata reimported, and SSO turned back on. Converted UCM Cloud customers keep their own certificates until the domain and CA move to Cisco.
2 minutes, the window. Disruptive planned maintenance gets at least 10 calendar days of written notice if the partner is enrolled for Maintenance and outages. The AMER weekday window is 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Eastern and cannot be slid. You can ask for another Cisco date with a lifecycle service request, and you should answer in two or three days. A severe vulnerability or a certificate about to expire does not move. Do not vulnerability-scan the cloud yourself.
What you will not say. You will not merge the October 09, 2026 n-1 sentence with the partner-operations v14.0 table. You will not open the TAC case under the Webex product option. You will not claim port 21 FTP is allowed.

- Open questions: the partner operations header date, and whether v14.0 is still the printed n-1 beside the October 09, 2026 RACI sentence that names v15SU4a.
- Facts still marked re-check: the partner operations guide rows in the limits table, because that retrieval did not show a header date.
