Routing words that survived contact
Routing is the decision that picks a destination. CTI is the coordination between the telephone and the computer, including screen pop as a desktop idea on the Wikipedia page. A screen pop is not the route. It is what the desktop does when the route has already chosen an agent.
Learn it in 5 minutes
- Wikipedia's CTI article says the term covers desktop efficiency and server functions such as automatic call routing.
- A contact center, on the call centre article, adds channels beyond voice.
- Zoom names voice, video, and chat for consumers.
- Talkdesk's forecast API talks about queues and time intervals.
- A queue's exact configuration object was not opened for all three vendors.

What is going on
Routing is the decision that picks a destination. CTI is the coordination between the telephone and the computer, including screen pop as a desktop idea on the Wikipedia page. A screen pop is not the route. It is what the desktop does when the route has already chosen an agent.
Talkdesk's forecast import mentions queues. That is enough to say Talkdesk WFM speaks about queues. It is not a full routing guide. Zoom's Contact Center page names agents and consumers, not a queue object, in the text that was read. Avaya Infinity's orchestration line says connect systems, data, AI, and workflows. It does not name a queue.
Skill names, priorities, and timeout seconds are release-dependent. They stay confirm.
Worked example
Write route, then desktop. Under route, cite the decision. Under desktop, cite CTI and screen pop as Wikipedia's framing. If you add a queue, cite the Talkdesk forecast page and do not copy that word onto Zoom or Avaya without a page.
Quiz
1. CTI coordinates telephones and computers.
True. That is the Wikipedia definition that opened.
2. A queue timeout in seconds is stated in this lab.
False. Timeouts were not opened. They are confirm.
Ecosystem
Sister pieces sit on the ecosystem page: the glossary, the mind map, the integration map, and the bridges.
- CTI — Computer-telephony integration: coordinating telephone and computer interactions.
- Screen pop — A desktop CTI outcome named on the Wikipedia page. Not the routing decision itself.
Config. Separate the route object from the desktop pop.
Troubleshooting. If the pop is wrong and the agent is right, fix the data match. If the agent is wrong, fix the route. They are different failures.
Bridge. CRM integrations in the later track are often the data behind the pop.
Mind map, sister technologies, and future hooks live on the ecosystem page.
